When the new year rolls around there are always many resolutions that get made. Common goals of getting organized or working out more are always popular but for our business there is one that is even more important.
How do we keep creativity alive in an industry that demands it?
Mix it up! Switch offices, work outside the office, or try something you normally wouldn't do. The goal is to force yourself to discover a new way of looking at things. You never know what you'll come up with when you get outside your comfort zone!
Take a hike... literally. Whether you do it outside or just hop on a treadmill, exercise can clear your mind. Sometimes even a simple drive in the car can help to get you refocused. Being music lovers, we also suggest rocking out to your favorite album to jolt your mind.
Commit, Then Figure It Out.
If you want to be forced to create, then just force yourself to do it. Sign up for something new that you've never done before and just go all in. The more inexperienced, the better. There isn't a manual on how to design projects, most of it just comes from working through it. When you’re learning how to do something new, you learn how to create your own way. It's all about living in the moment!
Find Someone You Connect With.
Almost all our most extraordinary concepts have taken a village. It takes a team to create something over-the-top. Surround yourself with others who share your vision and learn new ways to work together. You’ll end up learning to bring the best out in each other.
Cut Yourself Off from Technology.
This one is the hardest... throw out your phone (Okay, you can just turn it off). The goal here is to try and untether yourself, even if it’s just for 30 minutes. Use this time as a moment of reflection and meditation. This will allow you to get away from the distractions of life and give you the TIME to dream. While it might feel like you’re wasting time, just look at it as a creative break. In the long run, you will save yourself time!
